Salca Park

The fact that I am in love with Oradea is not exactly a secret. Of all the big cities in Romania, Oradea has captured me the most in every way. It doesn't matter how often I come back here; I can fill my heart and soul with warmth and excitement while exploring new things. I always manage to recharge myself during my stay. If someone were to ask me which park is my favourite here in Oradea, I would answer without thinking. If I had to justify my choice, I'd rather tell you a few things here to make you understand.

Salca Park was opened in 2014 and is located along the Pece Stream between the Cantemir district and Lotus Mall. It is a huge grassy area full of shrubs, perennials, and aquatic plants. We can find 48 deciduous, 30 coniferous, and 178 other tree species, all in a mere 10,912 square metres. As soon as you enter the park from one side, you come across an artificial pond, divided by a wooden walkway in the middle. Around the pond are resting places and benches. Feel free to sit down and marvel at the fascinating world of the lake. It's a comforting feeling to watch the ducks swimming and speaking amongst themselves (which sometimes makes me wonder what the daily gossip among the ducks is all about). Diving a little deeper (not literally, of course) into the daily life of the animals living in or around the lake, we can see the turtles poking their heads out of the water and looking at us just as we are looking at them. During the summer, a fountain rising from the lake provides daily refreshment.

This place was shown to me by a lovely person, and it has remained my favourite place ever since. It's a place that's always bustling, where you can do sports and relax in good weather. This Park is frequented by many families and young people in Oradea. Dogs aren't banned from the park either, so you'll meet plenty of locals walking their dogs. I always have the feeling that I have finally found a place where I can feel happiness, where, in addition to doing sports and relaxing, I can also become a child again for a moment, while listening to the laughing children. The maze and the many bamboo lanes here are a great place to take a new profile picture or even an Instagram post.
